Naltrexone is an additional drug taken in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other drugs mentioned it is an opioid blocker and is not an opiate. A person has the choice to take this medication as a monthly injection, which is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, the drug prevents someone from experience being high from opioids, and in turn lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily shot costs in the range of $1000 to $1200 monthly.
