Outpatient Methadone Buprenorphine or Vivitrol - Drug and Alcohol Treatment Facilities - Eagle Rock, MO.

One of the out-patient rehab alternatives for clients in Eagle Rock battling with opioid abuse and addiction is opioid maintenance therapy. Licensed clinics and doctors are authorized to give certain meds to opioid dependent individuals, many that are opioids themselves and are habit forming. In low doses however, the client does not feel high but also does not have acute cravings and isn't experiencing opioid withdrawal. Methadone is the first drug used for this sole purpose, but there are a few more choices to pick from.

Methadone is an opioid and is meant to be taken at an outpatient clinic certified to dispense the med, which is taken daily in liquid or pill form. The price of the drug is about $150 monthly. Buprenorphine is also an opiate based drug, and is in pill form often taken every other day. But unlike Methadone which can only be dispensed in highly well-regulated medical centers, Buprenorphine can be prescribed and dispensed in doctor's offices. The monthly cost of buprenorphine is around $300 monthly for the generic of the medication. There is also a version of buprenorphine that contains naloxone, which is a drug which reverses the effects of opioids. An individual taking this version of the drug, AKA Suboxone, would find it harder to feel high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It too is taken every day, and costs about $450 a month. Naltrexone is another medication used in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other drugs mentioned here it is an opioid blocker and isn't an opiate. There is an option to take this medication as a monthly injection, which is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, the drug prevents someone from feeling high from opioids, and in turn lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily injection costs anywhere from $1000 to $1200 monthly.
