Outpatient Methadone Buprenorphine or Vivitrol - Alcohol and Drug Treatment Facilities - Lowry City, MO.

One of the out-patient treatment options for clients in Lowry City struggling with opioid dependence and addiction is opioid maintenance therapy. Some facilities and doctors are authorized to dispense certain meds to opioid dependent clients, many that are opioid-based themselves and are habit forming. In low doses however, the client does not feel high but also does not experience severe cravings and is not in opioid withdrawal. Methadone is the first medication administered for this purpose, but there are a few more choices currently to select from.

Methadone is an opiate and can be taken at an outpatient medical center licensed to dispense the med, that is taken daily in liquid or pill form. The cost of the med is approximately $150 per month. Buprenorphine is also an opioid-based med, and is in pill form often taken every other day. But different from Methadone that can only be given in structured clinics, Buprenorphine can be prescribed and dispensed in doctor's offices. The price monthly of buprenorphine is around just under $300 /month for the generic version of the med. There is also a version of buprenorphine that contains naloxone, which is a drug which blocks the effects of opiates. A person consuming this formulation, also known as Suboxone, would find it harder to get high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It too is taken every day, and costs approximately $450 /month. Naltrexone is an additional drug taken in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other drugs mentioned it is an opiate blocker and isn't an opiate. A person has the choice to take this drug as a monthly shot, and that is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, the drug prevents someone from feeling high from opioids, and in turn lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily injection costs anywhere from $1000 to $1200 monthly.
