There is also a version of buprenorphine that contains the ingredient naloxone, that is a drug that reverses the effects of opioids. Someone taking this version of the drug, AKA Suboxone, would find it harder to feel high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It too is taken on a daily basis, and costs around $450 per month. Naltrexone is another med taken in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other medications aforementioned it's an opioid blocker and is not an opiate. There is an option to take this drug as a monthly shot, and that is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, it prevents a person from feeling high from opioids, and therefore lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily injection costs anywhere from $1000 to $1200 /month.
