Regular out-patient treatment is mostly a less costly choice to more comprehensive outpatient centers or inpatient rehabilitation, and is the lowest intensity of formal substance abuse rehabilitation available in New Hampton. Some individuals are in treatment for their first time and have chosen regular outpatient because of the cost and commitment to time wise and logistically because of school, work or other obligations. In some cases, regular outpatient is a downgrade to service following treatment in a more intense outpatient program such as a partial hospitalization or inpatient program.
Regular outpatient recovery services offer group and individual counseling services delivered once or twice a week. Centers which offer a wider array of services may include counseling (CBT) to help with relapse prevention and dual-diagnosis services to help address co-occurring substance abuse and mental health issues. How long a person remains in recovery can change from client to client, and a client's progress can be assessed from time to time and more rehab can be recommended contingent upon these evaluations.
In many cases, a regular outpatient rehabilitation facility may be insufficient in intensity for someone who is facing a severe substance abuse problem and has never gone to treatment before or has fallen off the wagon following prior outpatient treatment.
