Regular out-patient recovery is usually a less costly alternative to more intensive outpatient centers or inpatient rehabilitation, and is the least intense of formal substance abuse rehabilitation available in Hernando. Some people are in rehab for the first time and have chosen regular outpatient because that is all they can afford and time commitment and scheduling because of school, work or other obligations. For many, regular outpatient is a "step-down" from rehab in a more intensive outpatient center like a partial hospitalization or in-patient center.
Regular out-patient rehab services usually involve some kind of individual and group counseling services delivered once maybe twice per week. Programs that offer a wider spectrum of services may include counseling (behavioral therapy) to assist with relapse prevention and dual diagnosis services to help respond to co-occurring addiction and mental health disorders. The length of time a person remains in treatment can vary, and a client's progress can be assessed from time to time and an extension of rehab can be suggested contingent upon these conclusions.
In some cases, a regular outpatient treatment program may be insufficient in intensity for a client who is addressing a chronic substance abuse issue and has not gone to rehab before or has fallen off the wagon following prior outpatient rehabilitation.
