Young adults within the ages of 18 and 24 are provided substance abuse rehab centers designed specifically for this age group. The most comprehensive rehabilitation offered to young adults is at an inpatient rehab program in Rex which offers a wider spectrum of recovery services than outpatient facilities. Addiction issues and co-occurring mental health disorders can be handled concurrently in drug treatment programs for young adults which have psychologists or therapists on site to handle co-occurring disorders.
Young adults involved in treatment programs which cater to their demographic benefit from having the peer support on hand and the empathy of treatment staff who are typically skilled and experienced at working with young adults.
The length of rehabilitation can vary in young adult recovery programs, and this is often determined based off the individual's progression during the program. The more progressed the case is, the longer it may be advised that the young adult continues with treatment. If outpatient therapy is the only treatment option available, this too should be comprehensive enough to meet the client's needs. As an example, there are outpatient programs for young adults which merely require the client to attend therapy and counseling a couple of times per week, and there are programs which require daily participation.
