Medicare is a federal program which helps pay for medical healthcare services for people living in the U.S. who are either disabled or 65 years of age or older. For individuals who do have Medicare and require addiction rehabilitation in Washington, this program can pay for various treatment programs and recovery services. Medicare comes in different "Parts", with Parts A-D covering certain kinds of treatment.

Part A (Insurance for Hospital Stays) - Medicare Part A covers inpatient drug and alcohol rehabilitation, and up to 60 days in treatment without a co-pay but individuals will be required to pay a deductible. Medicare only pays for a total of 190 days of inpatient care, as in during the person's lifetime.

Part D (Prescription Insurance) Medicare Part D pays for drug and alcohol addiction medications. Including medications associated with treating withdrawal symptoms during detoxification and medications required for maintenance therapy such as methadone or buprenorphine.
