Outpatient Methadone Buprenorphine or Vivitrol - Alcohol and Drug Rehab Centers - Braddock, ND.

One of the out-patient treatment alternatives for people in Braddock battling with opioid dependence and addiction is opioid maintenance therapy. Licensed centers and doctors are authorized to dispense certain meds to opioid addicted people, many that are opioids also and are habit forming. With low enough amounts however, the client does not feel high and also doesn't experience acute cravings and is not experiencing opioid withdrawal. Methadone is the first med tried for this reason, but there are a few more options to select from.

Methadone is an opiate and can be taken at an out-patient medical center licensed to administer the drug, which is taken daily in liquid or pill form. The cost of the drug is about $150 monthly. Buprenorphine is also an opiate based drug, and is a pill often taken every other day. But unlike Methadone which can only be given in highly well-regulated clinics, Buprenorphine can be prescribed and administered in doctor's offices. The cost monthly of buprenorphine is around $300.00 a month for the generic of the med. There is also a version of buprenorphine containing the drug naloxone, that is a med that blocks the effects of opioids. Someone consuming this version of the drug, AKA Suboxone, would find it more difficult to get high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It too is taken every day, and costs around $450 monthly. Naltrexone is an additional drug taken in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other medications aforementioned it's an opioid blocker and isn't an opiate. There is an option to take this medication as a monthly shot, which is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, it prevents someone from feeling high from opioids, and in turn lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily shot costs in the range of $1000 to $1200 /month.
