The armed forces currently uses a military insurance known as Tricare to help veterans, active military members and their families receive health benefits. There is Tricare Prime, Tricare Standard, and Tricare Extra. Tricare Standard offers insurance benefits for retirees of the military who are 60 years of age or older and their eligible family members. With Tricare Standard they receive services from any civilian health care provider that is payable under Tricare, but also pay an annual deductible and coinsurance, as well as any out-of-pocket expenses. Tricare Extra is available to Tricare Standard beneficiaries which provides access to non-military health care professionals within their provider network, with a discounted coinsurance amount. Tricare Prime is available to all active-duty members, retirees, and all qualified family members, and with this they can choose a primary care physician and obtain referrals to organizations that offer specialty care.
Through TRICARE, military members can receive substance abuse treatment services in Jamestown. This encompasses detoxification, individual and group therapy including family therapy, and other substance abuse recovery services. They will need pre-authorization for services and there are likely to be some restrictions. Military insurance pays for both inpatient and outpatient, but inpatient services for detoxification are limited to 7 days.
