Outpatient Methadone Buprenorphine or Vivitrol - Drug and Alcohol Rehab Facilities - Warwick, ND.

One of the out-patient rehabilitation alternatives for clients in Warwick who are battling with opioid abuse and addiction is called opioid maintenance therapy. Some centers and doctors are authorized to give specific medications to opioid addicted individuals, many that are opioids themselves and are habit forming. With low enough doses however, the individual does not feel high but also doesn't have intense cravings and isn't experiencing opioid withdrawal. Methadone is the first medication administered for this sole purpose, but there are other options currently to choose from.

Methadone is an opioid and is meant to be taken at an out-patient clinic licensed to administer the med, which is taken on a daily basis as a pill or liquid. The cost of the med is around $150 monthly. Buprenorphine is also an opioid-based med, and is a pill often taken every other day. But unlike Methadone that can only be administered in highly well-regulated clinics, Buprenorphine can be prescribed and dispensed in doctor's offices. The price monthly of buprenorphine is around three hundred dollars monthly for the generic version of the medication. There is also a type of buprenorphine containing the drug naloxone, which is a drug which reverses the effects of opioids. Someone consuming this version of the drug, also known as Suboxone, would find it harder to get high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It is also taken on a daily basis, and costs around $450 a month. Naltrexone is another medication taken in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other medications mentioned here it's an opiate blocker and isn't an opiate. There is an option to take this medication as a monthly shot, which is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, the drug prevents an individual from experience high feelings from opioids, and therefore lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily injection costs anywhere from $1000 to $1200 a month.
