Clients Referred from the Court - Alcohol and Drug Rehabilitation Programs - Virginia, NE.

Clients referred from the court for drug or alcohol treatment are typically referred because they are being given a chance to accept rehabilitation in lieu of jail time, other charges, fines, etc. Although this is more prevalent among first time offenders, it can occur at any time including while someone is being held in jail. There are different types of programs that offenders may be referred to, and this all depends on which programs are attainable in Virginia and the type of issues the person requires treatment for.

There are programs that work directly with the criminal justice court system to administer to this explicit group of clientele, and are usually publicly-funded or are offered at little or no cost to the client. Additionally, there are also private drug treatment programs that may be accepted by the court if there is a specific type of rehab that the client requires or prefers that a state-funded program can't provide. The defendant's legal representation can present such options to the judge for permission. There are even drug rehab programs that provide services from the jails themselves, where clients are often in a better position for reduced sentences or other leniencies when participating in drug rehab services while serving their sentence for a drug offense or a DUI/DWI.
