There are recovery programs offered in or near Atlantic City that cater to both methadone and buprenorphine clients only, drugs which are administered in what is known as opioid maintenance therapy. At clinics that treat methadone and buprenorphine clients only, actual rehabilitation activities and therapies are limited beyond managing the medication and the main treatment goal is to address the withdrawal symptoms and put an end to the illicit drug use. Some centers do deliver a limited amount of counseling and therapy as auxiliary treatment, and it is encouraged.
