Outpatient Detoxification - Alcohol and Drug Rehabilitation Centers - Delaware, NJ.

If someone is receiving outpatient detox they must go to the center assisting them with their detox daily or at minimum 5 days per week in most cases. Outpatient detox services are either delivered in the daytime or evening, which makes it perfect for someone who must maintain a regular work or school routine. Some facilities may provide ways to participate in detoxification treatment in either regular outpatient or outpatient day treatment, to improve detox services and help prevent a relapse.

An average amount of time individuals participate in outpatient detox is approximately seven days. A number of programs use medically assisted detox methods while others provide drug free detox treatement. There are times when medications are needed to avert life-threatening withdrawal problems, like with alcohol and benzodiazepine medications where seizures are sometimes an issue. Alternatively, medical staff at the program help clients handle their emotional, psychological, and physical symptoms of withdrawal and cravings until they are detoxed and stabilized.

While outpatient detoxification in Delaware is more flexible for obvious reasons, a very serious disadvantage is that clients are at a greater chance of falling back into addiction due to the access they maintain to drugs and alcohol. Ideally, individuals will then go into a comprehensive treatment program to deal with the causes of their addiction once outpatient or inpatient detox is complete.
