SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Treatment Centers - Harrison, NJ.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department responsible for health efforts to advance the behavioral health of the United States. One of its duties is the oversight of opioid treatment programs, which are centers which provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are in the midst of opioid dependency and addiction. Medicine prescribed are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid addicted people. SAMSHA certified opioid rehabilitation facilities in Harrison are programs that are officially allowed to dispense the medicines used in MAT being they maintain their certification and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also receive auxiliary benefits in addition to medication such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid rehabilitation facility can receive basic approval documentation while they endeavor to get their full accreditation, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehabilitation programs accredited by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. In addition, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA branch. Once an opioid rehabilitation program is certified, they need to get re-certified each year or every three years depending on the kind of certification that was given.
