There are recovery programs available in or near Hazlet that cater to both methadone and buprenorphine clients only, drugs which are dispensed in what is known as opioid maintenance therapy. Buprenorphine and methadone clients are on these medications daily so they don't experience cravings, withdrawal, etc. but ideally at a dose which isn't also making them feel high. Euphoria is possible at a high dosage, more so with methadone than buprenorphine. At centers which treat methadone and buprenorphine clients only, treatment therapies are limited beyond managing the medication and the primary treatment objective is to treat the physical symptoms of their dependence. Some programs do offer a limited amount of counseling and group therapy as secondary treatment, and this is encouraged.
