Military Insurance - Drug and Alcohol Rehab Programs - Albuquerque, NM.

The military currently uses a military insurance known as Tricare to help veterans, active military members and their families obtain health benefits. There is Tricare Prime, Tricare Standard, and Tricare Extra. Tricare Standard offers insurance benefits for retirees of the military who are 60 or older and their qualified family members. With Tricare Standard they have access to any non-military health care provider that is payable under Tricare, but also pay an annual deductible and coinsurance, as well as any out-of-pocket expenses. Tricare Extra is an option available for Tricare Standard beneficiaries which grants access to civilian health care professionals within their provider network, with a discounted coinsurance amount. Tricare Prime is offered to all active-duty members, retirees, and all qualified family members, and with this they can select a primary doctor and obtain referrals to organizations that provide specialty care.

Through TRICARE, military members can receive substance abuse treatment services in Albuquerque. This includes detoxification, individual and group therapy including family therapy, and other recovery services. They will require pre-authorization for services and there are likely to be some restrictions. Military insurance pays for both inpatient and outpatient, but inpatient services for detox are limited to 7 days. An inpatient or partial hospitalization following detox will only be authorized if it is an approved facility, and there are time restrictions as to how long military insurance carriers will be allowed to stay in treatment. A 3-week inpatient stay per benefit period is typically accepted. Additionally, there are 60 group therapy sessions and 15 family therapy sessions covered per benefit period, which take place on an outpatient basis. Family therapy is covered one after the active military member has finished other rehabilitation services such as inpatient or outpatient treatment.
