SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Treatment Programs - Canjilon, NM.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department responsible for health efforts to advance the mental health of the U.S.. One of its responsibilities is the oversight of opioid rehab programs, which are programs which provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are in the midst of opioid dependency and addiction. Medicine prescribed are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid addicted clients. SAMSHA certified opioid rehab facilities in Canjilon are programs which are legally allowed to distribute the medicines used in MAT as long as they maintain their certification and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also receive auxiliary services in addition to medicine such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid treatment facility can receive initial certification while they endeavor to get their full accreditation, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehab programs accredited by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. Likewise, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA office. Once an opioid treatment facility is approved to operate, they need to get re-certified each year or every three years contingent upon the type of certification it has been granted.
