Substance abuse facilities for Military Veterans are essential for the mental well-being and overall stability of Vets of all branches of the armed forces. Because drug and alcohol abuse and other mental health problems are experienced at above average rates among Veterans, it is important that they get the assistance they need because of such high suicide rates also associated with these disorders with our Vets.
Substance abuse programs for Vets in Navajo Dam are available through the VA, with services that include programs to address associated problems such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, pain, disturbed sleep, irritability, and/or relationship problems which most commonly trigger substance abuse disorders among Vets. Treatment for addiction and related disorders among Vets includes psychotherapies and group and individual therapy which can increase an individual's motivation to change. Involvement in outside support such as AA and other support groups is encouraged. Medications can also be used in some circumstances to help Veterans decrease their tobacco, alcohol, and drug use.
Substance abuse programs for Veterans can be found during the evening and weekend hours, with both outpatient and residential programs available. Facilities which are Women-Only or Men-Only and those for homeless Military Vets are available in certain areas.
