The military currently uses a military insurance known as Tricare to help veterans, active military members and their families receive health benefits. There is Tricare Prime, Tricare Standard, and Tricare Extra. Tricare Standard offers benefits for retired military who are 60 or older and their eligible family members. With Tricare Standard they receive services from any non-military health care provider that is payable under Tricare, but also pay an annual deductible and coinsurance, as well as any out-of-pocket expenses. Tricare Extra is an option available to Tricare Standard beneficiaries which grants access to civilian health care providers within their provider network, with a discounted coinsurance amount. Tricare Prime is available to all active-duty members, retirees, and all eligible family members, and with this they can pick a primary care physician and get referrals to organizations that provide specialty care.
Through TRICARE, members of the military can receive drug and alcohol treatment services in Battle Mountain. This includes individual and group therapy including family therapy, detoxification, and other rehab services. They will require pre-authorization for services and there are likely to be some limitations. Military insurance pays for both outpatient and inpatient, but stays for detox are limited to 7 days. An inpatient or partial hospitalization following detox will only be authorized if it is a Tricare approved facility, and there are time limits as to how long military insurance carriers are permitted to remain in rehab.
