Medicaid is an insurance program for low-income families that because of the Affordable Care Act must cover standard drug and alcohol treatment. Medicaid is currently the single largest payer for mental health treatment services in the U.S., and is beginning to play a significant role in the reimbursements of substance abuse treatment services. Medicaid subscribers will want to keep in mind that while this is the case, not all facilities will take Medicaid. At rehab centers which do accept Medicaid, clients won't have co-payments in most states. For states which do charge co-pays, there are limits to the out-of-pocket expenses for recipients.
