SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Treatment Programs - Bayport, NY.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency in charge of efforts to promote the mental health of the nation. One of its obligations is the supervision of opioid rehab programs, which are centers who provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are in the midst of opioid dependency and addiction. Medicine prescribed are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid addicted clients. SAMSHA certified opioid rehabilitation programs in Bayport are programs who are officially allowed to give out the drugs used in MAT being they maintain their certification and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also receive ancillary services in addition to medication such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid rehab program can get their initial approval documentation while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehab programs authorized by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. Likewise, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA branch. Once an opioid treatment facility is approved to operate, it must be re-certified every year or every 3 years depending on the kind of certification that was given.
