SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Rehab Facilities - Centereach, NY.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department in charge of health efforts to promote the behavioral health of the United States. One of its obligations is the supervision of opioid rehabilitation facilities, which are centers which offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Medications given are drugs like methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent individuals. SAMSHA certified opioid rehabilitation facilities in Centereach are programs who are legally allowed to give out the medications used in MAT as long as they maintain their certification and always maintain the necessary requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also receive auxiliary services aside from medication such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid treatment facility can receive initial approval documentation while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid treatment facilities accredited by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. In addition, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA office. Once an opioid treatment program is certified, they need to get re-certified every year or every 3 years depending on the type of certification it has been granted.
