A requirement that MAT clients must also receive auxiliary services aside from medicine such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.
An opioid treatment facility can get their basic approval documentation while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehab facilities authorized by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. In addition, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA branch. Once an opioid treatment facility is certified, they need to get re-certified each year or every 3 years depending on the type of accreditation it has been given.
