SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Centers - Comstock, NY.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department in charge of health efforts to promote the behavioral health of the nation. One of its responsibilities is the oversight of opioid rehab facilities, which are centers which offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Medications administered are drugs such as buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs that help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent clients. SAMSHA certified opioid rehab programs in Comstock are programs that are officially permitted to give out the medications used in MAT as long as they remain certified and always maintain the necessary requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also get ancillary benefits aside from medication such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid rehab center can get their basic approval documentation while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehab facilities accredited by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. In addition, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA office. Once an opioid rehab center is certified, it must be re-certified every year or every 3 years depending on the kind of accreditation it has been granted.
