Drug and alcohol treatment services are offered in a wide variety of formats, so there is truly something for everyone in East Pembroke. Treatment services can be done in both an outpatient and inpatient basis, where outpatient services range from 1 or 2 days of treatment per week to intensive outpatient treatment services which is available daily. Outpatient treatment services range from individual counseling and group counseling, to more advanced psychotherapies to modify behavior and motivate clients to stay sober.
Inpatient and residential rehabilitation is available to people who struggle with more complex histories of substance abuse, spanning from 30 - 90 day programs. Some treatment programs have what is called a Therapeutic Community model, where clients may stay up to a year in certain situations. The longer the person remains in in treatment and takes advantage of services and a distraction-free atmosphere, the greater their chances of remaining clean and sober and being able stay that way without needing such a comprehensive system of support. Services at an inpatient or residential drug treatment program are often more diverse and will encompass treatment for addiction but also include services for co-occurring mental health disorders. Aftercare and relapse prevention services are essential even after long-term treatment, and many programs recommend continued participation in the program for some months until the person has shifted into a clean and sober way of life.
