Medicare is a federal program which helps pay for medical healthcare services for individuals living in the Unites States who are either disabled or 65 and older. For people who do have Medicare and need substance abuse rehab in Florida, this program will pay for various rehabilitation programs and treatment services. Medicare comes in different "Parts", with Parts A-D covering various types of care.

Part A (Insurance for Hospital Stays) - Medicare Part A covers inpatient substance rehabilitation, and up to 60 days in rehab without a co-pay but individuals will be required to pay a deductible. Medicare only pays for 190 days of inpatient care total, this applies to the individual's lifetime.

Part B (Medical Insurance) ? Medicare Part B pays up to 80% of the expenses for outpatient substance abuse rehabilitation. This includes outpatient services, therapy/counseling, treatment for co-occurring disorders such as anxiety disorders or depression and drugs dispensed by clinics. It also covers professional intervention services.

Part C (Medicare-approved Private Insurance) Medicare Part D is an option for clients who want supplemental health insurance aside from what the other parts of Medicare have to offer. People who have Part C can have more insurance benefits available to them, but out-of-pocket costs and coverage is different and may be more expensive.

Part D (Prescription Insurance) Medicare Part D covers drug and alcohol addiction medications. Including medications used for withdrawal symptoms during detoxification and those used for maintenance therapy such as methadone or buprenorphine.
