A requirement that MAT individuals must also receive auxiliary benefits in addition to medication like counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid rehabilitation program can receive basic certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehab facilities accredited by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. Likewise, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA branch. Once an opioid rehab center is certified, they need to get re-certified each year or every 3 years depending on the type of certification it has been given.
