SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Centers - Windham, NY.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department in charge of efforts to promote the behavioral health of the United States. One of its duties is the supervision of opioid rehabilitation facilities, which are programs who provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are in the midst of opioid addiction and dependency. Medications prescribed are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid addicted clients. SAMSHA certified opioid rehab facilities in Windham are programs which are officially permitted to give out the medications used in MAT as long as they maintain their certification and always maintain the necessary requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also receive auxiliary benefits aside from medication like psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid rehab facility can get their basic approval documentation while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehabilitation facilities authorized by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. In addition, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA branch. Once an opioid rehabilitation facility is certified, it must be re-certified every year or every 3 years depending on the type of accreditation it has been granted.
