SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Rehab Programs - Woodside, NY.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency in charge of efforts to advance the mental health of the United States. One of its obligations is the supervision of opioid rehabilitation programs, which are centers who provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Medications administered are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that stop curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid dependent people. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment programs in Woodside are programs which are legally allowed to dispense the drugs used in MAT being they remain certified and always maintain the necessary requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also receive auxiliary services in addition to medicine such as counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid rehab facility can receive initial approval documentation while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid treatment facilities accredited by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. In addition, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA branch. Once an opioid rehabilitation facility is certified, it must be re-certified every year or every three years contingent upon the type of certification it has been granted.
