Medicare is a federal health insurance program which helps pay for health benefits for people living in the U.S. who are either disabled or 65 and older. Medicare consists of different "Parts", with Parts A-D covering different forms of medical care.

Individuals who have Part C may have more options available to them, but out-of-pocket costs and coverage is different and may be more expensive.

Part D (Prescription Insurance) Medicare Part D covers drug and alcohol addiction medications. Including medications associated with treating drug and alcohol withdrawal as well as those used for maintenance therapy such as methadone or buprenorphine.
