Naltrexone is an additional medication used in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other medications aforementioned it is an opiate blocker and isn't an opioid. There is an option to take this medication as a monthly injection, which is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, the drug prevents an individual from getting high from opioids, and in turn lowers the risk associated with relapse.
