Regular outpatient recovery is mostly a less expensive alternative to more comprehensive outpatient options or inpatient rehab, and is the lowest intensity of formal substance abuse treatment available in Old Washington. Some people are attending rehab for the first time and have chosen regular outpatient because of the cost and time commitment and scheduling because of school, work or other obligations. In some cases, regular outpatient is a step down to service following treatment in a more intense outpatient program such as a partial hospitalization or inpatient center.
Regular outpatient recovery options involve individual and group counseling services delivered once maybe twice per week. Facilities which include a more diverse range of services may include counseling (behavioral therapy) to help with relapse prevention and dual diagnosis services to help address co-occurring substance abuse and mental health disorders. The length of time someone remains involved in treatment can change from client to client, and a person's improvement can be assessed every now and then and an extension of rehab can be suggested contingent upon these evaluations.
In some cases, a regular outpatient recovery facility is going to be lacking in intensity for a client who is attempting to address a chronic drug and alcohol issue and has not gone to recovery previously or has relapsed after previous outpatient recovery.
