Regular out-patient rehab is usually a less expensive choice to more intensive outpatient options or inpatient recovery, and is the lowest intensity of formal alcohol or drug treatment available in Roundhead. Some people are in treatment for their first time and have chosen regular outpatient because that is all they can afford and commitment to time wise and scheduling because of school, work or other obligations. In some cases, regular outpatient is a "step-down" from rehab in a more intensive outpatient program like a partial hospitalization or in-patient center.
Regular out-patient rehabilitation services involve group and individual counseling services delivered once or twice a week. Centers which offer a wider range of services may include counseling (CBT) to assist with relapse prevention and dual diagnosis services to help address co-occurring addiction and mental health disorders. How long a client remains involved in treatment can change from client to client, and a client's progress can be evaluated from time to time and an extension of rehab can be suggested contingent upon these findings.
In some cases, a regular outpatient rehabilitation facility is going to be insufficient in intensity for an individual who is facing a severe drug and alcohol problem and has never gone to rehab before or has relapsed following previous outpatient rehab.
