It is also taken on a daily basis, and costs approximately $450 monthly. Naltrexone is another med taken in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other drugs mentioned here it's an opioid blocker and isn't an opiate. There is an option to take this medication as a monthly shot, and that is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, it prevents a person from feeling high from opioids, and therefore lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily shot costs anywhere from $1000 to $1200 /month.
