The armed forces currently uses a military insurance called Tricare to help veterans, active military members and their families obtain health benefits. There is Tricare Prime, Tricare Standard, and Tricare Extra. Tricare Standard offers benefits for retirees of the military who are 60 or older and their qualified family members. With Tricare Standard they have access to any civilian health care provider that is payable under Tricare, but also pay an annual deductible and coinsurance, in addition to any out-of-pocket expenses. Tricare Extra is available for Tricare Standard beneficiaries which grants access to civilian health care providers within their provider network, with a reduced coinsurance amount. Tricare Prime is available to all active-duty members, retirees, and all qualified family members, and with this they can select a primary doctor and get referrals to health care services that offer specialty care.
By way of TRICARE, military members can acquire substance abuse treatment services in Ada. This includes detoxification, individual and group therapy including family therapy, and other various treatment services. They will require pre-authorization for services and there are likely to be some limitations. Military insurance pays for both inpatient and outpatient, but stays for detox are restricted to 7 days. Partial hospitalization or impatient treatment following detoxification will only be authorized if it is an approved facility, and there are time restrictions as to how long military members will be allowed to remain in treatment.
