Young adults between the ages of 18 and 24 years old have access to drug rehab centers developed specifically to meet their needs. The most effective rehabilitation available for young adults is at an inpatient rehabilitation center in May which offers a wider spectrum of services than outpatient facilities. Addiction disorders and co-occurring mental health disorders can be worked on concurrently in drug treatment programs for young adults which have psychologists or therapists on site to address co-occurring disorders.
Young adults involved in treatment programs which specifically treat their age group benefit from having the peer support on hand and the empathy of rehab staff who are commonly skilled and knowledgeable at treating these youths.
The length of treatment can vary in young adult rehab facilities, and this is often determined based off the client's progress throughout the treatment process. The more serious the case is, the longer it may be advised that the young adult stays in treatment. If outpatient rehab is the only recovery option available, this too should be thorough enough to meet the client's needs. As an example, there are outpatient programs for young adults which only require the client to attend counseling and therapy 1 or 2 times per week, and there are programs which require daily participation.
