Partial hospitalization/Day Treatment is a type of out-patient substance abuse rehabilitation program which is less than intensive outpatient and more intensive than regular out-patient treatment. Partial Hospitalization Day Treatment is also tailored to people who may need intense rehab for a co-occurring mental health disorder, but don't need around the clock intervention and treatment. Following partial hospitalization day treatment, the person could then phase into regular out-patient care.
When a person is in a partial hospitalization day treatment program, they typically participate in services anywhere from 3-5 days a week. It is similar to an in-patient program in many important ways, including the fact that clients will have access tonurses, physicians, and mental health professionals who can deal with the psychological, emotional, and physical challenges they are trying to conquer. For at least four to six hrs on the days that people participate in partial hospitalization day treatment, the clients will receive individual addiction therapy, psychotherapy services, participate in group counseling, get any needed medical care and deal with any of the mental health symptoms that are triggering their drug and alcohol addiction.
