Substance abuse facilities for Veterans are central for the mental health and overall stability of Veterans of all branches of the military. Because substance abuse and other mental health problems are experienced at higher than average rates among Veterans, it is crucial that Veterans get the assistance they need due to such high rates of suicide also associated with these disorders among our Vets.
Substance abuse programs for Veterans in Stilwell are available from the VA, with services that include efforts to handle associated problems such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, pain, disturbed sleep, irritability, and/or relationship problems which most commonly trigger substance abuse disorders among Veterans. Rehab for addiction and associated problems among Vets includes individual and group therapy and psychotherapies that can increase an individual's desire to change. Involvement in outside support such as AA and other support groups is recommended. Medications are also available in some circumstances to help Vets decrease their tobacco, alcohol, and drug use.
