Alcohol and drug abuse facilities for Vets are central for the mental health and overall stability of Vets of all branches of the military. Because drug and alcohol abuse and other mental health problems are found at above average rates among Vets, it is important that Veterans get the assistance they need due to such high rates of suicide also associated with these disorders with our Vets.
Drug and alcohol abuse programs for Vets in Valliant are available from the VA, with included services such as programs to address associated disorders such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, pain, disturbed sleep, irritability, and/or relationship problems which most commonly trigger addiction disorders among Vets. Treatment for substance abuse and associated disorders among Veterans includes individual and group therapy and psychotherapies that can increase an individual's motivation to change. Involvement in outside support such as AA and other support groups is recommended. Medications can also be used in some circumstances to help Veterans decrease their tobacco, alcohol, and drug use.
Substance abuse facilities for Vets are offered during the evening and weekend hours, with both residential and outpatient programs available. Facilities that are Women-Only or Men-Only and those for homeless Military Vets are available in certain areas.
