Naltrexone is an additional med taken in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other drugs mentioned it is an opioid blocker and isn't an opioid. A person has the choice to take this medication as a monthly shot, which is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, it prevents someone from experience high feelings from opioids, and in turn lowers the risk associated with relapse.
