Outpatient Methadone Buprenorphine or Vivitrol - Drug and Alcohol Rehab Facilities - Bellwood, PA.

One of the outpatient treatment alternatives for individuals in Bellwood who are battling with opioid abuse and addiction is opioid maintenance therapy. Some clinics and doctors are certified to dispense certain medications to opioid addicted clients, many of which are opioids also and are addiction. In low amounts however, the individual does not feel high and also doesn't experience severe cravings and isn't in opioid withdrawal. Methadone is the first med tried for this reason, but there are alternative choices to select from.

Methadone is an opiate and is meant to be taken at an out-patient medical center licensed to dispense the med, that is taken daily as a pill or liquid. The price of the drug is about $150 a month. Buprenorphine is also an opiate based drug, and is in pill form often taken one day on, one day off. But different from Methadone which can only be administered in well-regulated medical centers, Buprenorphine can be and is prescribed and dispensed in doctor's offices. The price monthly of buprenorphine is around $300 monthly for the generic version of the drug. There is also a version of buprenorphine that contains naloxone, that is a drug which reverses the effects of opioids. An individual taking this formulation, also known as Suboxone, would find it more difficult to feel high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It is also taken daily, and is priced approximately $450 monthly. Naltrexone is an additional med used in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other drugs mentioned it's an opiate blocker and is not an opiate. There is an option to take this drug as a monthly shot, and that is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, it prevents a person from feeling high from opioids, and in turn lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily shot costs in the range of $1000 to $1200 monthly.
