SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Rehab Programs - Elizabethville, PA.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency responsible for health efforts to advance the mental health of the United States. One of its duties is the administering of opioid rehab facilities, which are programs which provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are in the midst of opioid dependency and addiction. Medicine administered are drugs such as buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs which stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid addicted individuals. SAMSHA certified opioid rehab facilities in Elizabethville are programs that are officially allowed to dispense the drugs used in MAT as long as they maintain their certification and always maintain the necessary requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also receive auxiliary benefits in addition to medicine such as counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid rehabilitation center can receive basic certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehabilitation facilities accredited by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. In addition, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA branch. Once an opioid rehab program is certified, it must be re-certified every year or every three years contingent upon the type of certification that was granted.
