One of the out-patient rehabilitation options for individuals in Force battling with opioid abuse and addiction is called opioid maintenance therapy. Licensed facilities and doctors are certified to dispense certain meds to opioid dependent clients, many of which are opioids also and are addiction. Buprenorphine is also an opioid-based med, and is a pill often taken one day on, one day off. But different from Methadone that can only be administered in highly well-regulated medical centers, Buprenorphine can be prescribed and administered in doctor's offices. The cost monthly of buprenorphine is approximately $300 a month for the generic of the drug. There is also a version of buprenorphine that contains the ingredient naloxone, which is a drug that reverses the effects of opiates. A person consuming this version of the drug, AKA Suboxone, would find it more difficult to feel high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It too is taken daily, and is priced about $450 per month. Naltrexone is another med taken in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other drugs aforementioned it's an opiate blocker and isn't an opiate. A person has the choice to take this drug as a monthly injection, which is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, it prevents a person from experience high feelings from opioids, and in turn lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily injection costs anywhere from $1000 to $1200 monthly.
