SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Rehab Programs - Harmony, PA.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency responsible for health efforts to promote the mental health of the United States. One of its responsibilities is the supervision of opioid rehabilitation programs, which are centers that offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Medications prescribed are drugs like buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs that stop curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid addicted clients. SAMSHA certified opioid rehabilitation programs in Harmony are programs that are legally allowed to give out the medications used in MAT as long as they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also receive ancillary benefits in addition to medication like psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid rehabilitation center can get their initial approval documentation while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehab programs accredited by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. Likewise, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA office. Once an opioid rehab facility is certified, they need to get re-certified every year or every three years depending on the type of certification that was granted.
