SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Treatment Facilities - Cheraw, SC.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency responsible for health efforts to promote the mental health of the U.S.. One of its duties is the administering of opioid treatment programs, which are programs who offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Drug prescribed are drugs like methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid addicted clients. SAMSHA certified opioid rehabilitation centers in Cheraw are programs which are legally allowed to dispense the medications used in MAT as long as they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also receive ancillary benefits aside from medication such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid rehab program can get their initial approval documentation while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehabilitation facilities accredited by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. Likewise, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA office. Once an opioid rehab center is approved to operate, they need to get re-certified every year or every 3 years contingent upon the type of accreditation that was granted.
