SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Treatment Facilities - Cope, SC.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency in charge of efforts to advance the mental health of the United States. One of its responsibilities is the oversight of opioid rehabilitation facilities, which are centers which offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Medications administered are drugs such as buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs which help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid addicted clients. SAMSHA certified opioid rehabilitation facilities in Cope are programs which are officially allowed to give out the medications used in MAT being they maintain their certification and always maintain the necessary requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also receive ancillary services in addition to medication such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid rehabilitation program can receive initial certification while they endeavor to get their full accreditation, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid treatment facilities accredited by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. Likewise, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA office. Once an opioid rehabilitation program is approved to operate, it must be re-certified each year or every 3 years contingent upon the type of certification that was granted.
