The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency responsible for health efforts to advance the mental health of the United States. One of its duties is the administering of opioid rehab programs, which are centers which offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Medicine prescribed are drugs like methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent individuals. SAMSHA certified opioid rehabilitation centers in Crocketville are programs who are officially permitted to give out the drugs used in MAT being they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also receive auxiliary benefits in addition to medicine like counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid rehabilitation center can receive initial certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehab facilities authorized by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. In addition, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA branch. Once an opioid rehabilitation facility is certified, it must be re-certified each year or every three years contingent upon the type of certification that was given.
