SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Rehab Facilities - Fair Play, SC.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency responsible for health efforts to promote the mental health of the U.S.. One of its duties is the administering of opioid treatment facilities, which are centers that offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are in the midst of opioid addiction and dependency. Medicine administered are drugs such as buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs which help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid dependent individuals. SAMSHA certified opioid rehabilitation centers in Fair Play are programs who are officially permitted to dispense the medicines used in MAT as long as they remain certified and always maintain the necessary requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also receive auxiliary services in addition to medication such as counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid rehabilitation program can receive initial certification while they endeavor to get their full accreditation, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehab facilities accredited by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. In addition, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA office. Once an opioid rehabilitation center is certified, they need to get re-certified every year or every three years contingent upon the type of certification that was given.
