SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Treatment Centers - Gadsden, SC.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency in charge of efforts to advance the mental health of the nation. One of its obligations is the administering of opioid treatment programs, which are centers who offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are in the midst of opioid addiction and dependency. Medications administered are drugs such as buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs that stop curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid addicted individuals. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment programs in Gadsden are programs who are legally permitted to distribute the medicines used in MAT being they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also receive ancillary services aside from medicine like counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid rehab center can receive basic certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid treatment programs accredited by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. In addition, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA office. Once an opioid treatment facility is approved to operate, they need to get re-certified every year or every 3 years depending on the kind of accreditation that was given.
